Release last week the patch is causing printing issues specifically with Kyocera printers but some users with other models such as Dymo are also reporting issues. The patch is causing BSOD (blue screen of death) when the users attempt to print. Microsoft is aware of the issue and has stated a fix is on the way. The workaround until then is to remove the patch. This can be done by going to update & security in Windows settings.
Then click on view update history then finally uninstall updates.
Depending on the patch level the OS is on you will want to look for either KB5000802 or KB5000808 in the list. Sort the list by installed on and it should have been installed in the last week or so.Click on the update and click uninstall at the top to begin the removal
Once the removal is complete you will be asked to reboot the PC. Once this is done you will want to go back into Update & Security and click the pause updates for 7 days. This will prevent the update from being reinstalled and the issue returning.
Another method is to remove it via command line. Open a cmd.exe window as admin and type the followingwusa.exe /uninstall /kb:5000802 OR wusa.exe /uninstall /kb:5000808 and hit enter. You will be asked to approval the removal of the patch. As before once the removal is complete you will need to reboot and then pause the updates. The permanent fix:Microsoft has just released a fixed roll up for this issue. Its available on Windows update and will be named KB5001567. Once you install that and reboot the issues should be resolved. For more IT Services help from a MSP, Contact us today at (704) 271-5001 or email us at inquiries@sterling-technology.com for a free consultation.
