Last Pass Alternatives

The deadline ended on March 16^th, after that point which ever platform you accessed the service from (mobile or PC) will lock you into that platform forcing you to continue using it that way unless you pay. So, if you are a fan of accessing Last Pass from both mobile and from the chrome extension for example you might be stuck.Last Pass charges $3 for the premium single user or $4 for the family plan. Do not get me wrong this is a small price to pay for such a great password manager but when you are used to getting something free and now are being forced to pay for that it can be a hard pill to swallow. Premium does give you extra features on top of allowing access from multiple devices and platforms. Such as a security dashboard allowing you to get a score of how strong the passwords are.

There are alternatives though if you do not want to pay. Bitwarden is a little know service that fits the bill perfectly. They are a open source service with multiple platforms just like Last Pass. All major browsers are supported as well as IOS/Android. The free version allows usage on more than 1 device, syncing to all device and even the option to host the vault locally instead of the account. If you wanted to go pro for only $10 a year you get the additional features such as a 1GB vault, security dashboard and its own MFA/TOTP app. This is my favorite as it allows you to setup MFA and it syncs the codes to whatever devices you have signed into the service. So, no more pulling out your phone to get a MFA code. Simply copy and paste it from the Chrome app into the program or website.
